Frankenstein: Chapter 12
This experimental book features Chapter 12 of Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, and is focused on visualizing the internal emotions of the monster during his observation of the cottagers. The book highlights terminology such as “pain” and “astonished” because they were emotionally charged for the monster, and hand-written type is used to highlight the monster’s growing understanding of the English language.
The book also integrates vellum paper between spreads to convey the monster’s feelings towards approaching the cottagers. The vellum changes in size based upon his readiness to introduce himself.
